The South Asian Working Group on Gender and Poverty was formed in 2004.
Objectives:
- To contribute to the economic empowerment of poor women through capacity building for social mobilization, income generation, micro credit and savings.
- To promote political empowerment of women through awareness-raising to ensure their rightful participation in democratic institutions and governance processes.
- To foster networking to share experiences and to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in advocating gender and poverty issues.
